Carmichael Chess Club

Chess Winner Adeliya Barrientos
Chess Champ

Congratulations to
Adeliya Barrientos for winning an Honorable Mention trophy at the Chess Tournament at Village School Chess Tournament!

The competition was a citywide competition and our students got a chance to compete against ranked chess players. The rounds were intense and our Chess Club members represented Carmichael very well.  We had several students who won 2 games and several more who had a draw (a tied game). The students played a total of 5 rounds and the tournament lasted over 10 hours so at the end of the day, we were all tired and ready to go home.

We will soon have a chess tournament in our own school where ALL of Carmichael's Chess Club members will participate (50+ students), plus another citywide tournament and a district-wide tournament. How exciting and rewarding! It is a lot of hard work for both the players and the coaches' time, commitment and personal family sacrifices they have made and will continue to do for the love the of the sport and betterment of our students!
Our students are becoming stronger and better chess players, thanks to the commitment of the chess sponsors:
Mr. Salazar (school coordinator), Mr. Pulido, Ms. de la Flor,
Mr. Lozano,  and Ms. De La Rosa.

The Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 7:15 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. and Thursdays (rain or shine) from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We have been gathering since the beginning of the school year to the present.
